YMCA Teen Musicians Win Awards

The YMCA of Central Kentucky proudly announced that two teens who started their musical careers in the group guitar lessons at the Beaumont YMCA have gone on to earn national recognition of their talents.

At the recent Tennessee Country & Gospel Music Assn.’s annual awards, 13-year-old Sydney Cubit won Vocalist of the Year and two Songwriter of the Year awards, while 15-year-old Julia
Knight took home Entertainer of the Year, CD of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Sydney has opened in concert for Grammy winner Norah Jones, and Julia has opened for Grammy winner Michael Martin Murphy.
