Barn Fire at Boyd Orchards, Fall Festivals Will Continue
A fire caused damage to two barns Wednesday night at Boyd Orchards, but the fall festival activities won’t suffer. The barns, located about 200 yards from the main visitor’s area, were used for storage. The fire was contained and no one was injured, according to owner Terry Boyd.
The only play structure affected was a large straw pyramid in the play area. Boyd said the straw pyramid caught an ember from the barn fire, but the area is being cleaned up and will hopefully be rebuilt by the weekend of Oct. 1.
“It could have been worse, but the whole playground is totally fine expect for the pyramid,” Boyd said. “We may not have the pyramid this weekend but there are plenty of other fun things to do.”
Boyd said the orchard is open for business and all weekend festivities will continue as planned.
“We will have hayrides, the corn maze, birthday parties and all the same fun,” he said.
This weekend, Sept. 34 & 25, is the “Ole Cider Days” Festival. Hours are 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, and noon-7 p.m. on Sunday.
