Walker Buehler Makes L.A. Dodger History
In his third start as a major league pitcher, Walker Buehler, a former Lexington Family Magazine Scholar Athlete, made history. Buehler was one of four Dodger pitchers to combine on a no-hitter – the first combined no-hitter in Dodgers history.
The feat came in the Dodgers 4-0 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday, May 4 in a game played in Monterrey, Mexico.
Buehler was the starting pitcher and worked six innings and struck out eight. Relievers Tony Cingrani, Yimi Garcia and Adam Liberatore pitched one inning each and completed the no-hitter.
Buehler, 23, was the Dodgers first-round draft pick in 2015 after he pitched for three years at Vanderbilt. He was the Scholar Athlete in July 2012 right after he graduated from Henry Clay High.
