Pediatric & Adolescent Associates: 60 Years of Caring for Children
Much has changed since Pediatric & Adolescent Associates first opened its doors in 1959.
The office grew from one location to two, and from one physician to 15. But some things have stayed the same, according to Martina Denny, PAA’s practice administrator.
“The most important things are that the physicians are providing excellent medical care and being kind to patients.”
Thousands of children have entered PAA’s doors, and it’s not unusual to see second or third-generation patients.
Accessibility is one of the major reasons Denny believes PAA is so appealing to parents. The practice is open 364 days a year, only closed on Christmas Day. On weekends, parents can call and schedule sick child visits.
“Kids are unpredictable,” Denny said. “They get sick on weekends and at inconvenient times and we really want to be there for them.”
PAA offices are located on Harrodsburg Road and North Eagle Creek Drive. The Harrodsburg Road office includes a Well Child Clinic on the second floor, as well as lab work and X-ray services.
“Parents aren’t inconvenienced by having to drive to another place to get the labs, then come back to us to get the results,” Denny said. “They just have to walk down the hall.”
All providers at PAA are M.D.s or D.O.s and are board certified in pediatrics. Having so many providers with different personalities and approaches allows parents to find the perfect fit for their family.
“We encourage parents to see a few different physicians to find who they click with,” Denny said.
Treating everyone like family is a practice that has led to years of success for PAA. Denny said the retention rate of physicians is high. In fact, three of the doctors have been with the practice for more than 40 years.
“The physicians have cultivated a culture where we feel like a family,” Denny said. “When you are doing the right thing by your patients and employees, people keep coming back to you.”
For expecting parents looking for a pediatrician, there is comfort in knowing no matter when your baby is born, a PAA doctor will be available to check on you.
“If your baby is born on a Friday, we have someone who will come by to see you on Saturday,” Denny said. “The lab also allows for bilirubin tests and other labs to be done in office, so we are a one-stop shop. It’s nice for parents to have just one phone number. They call on PAA and we can handle almost anything for them.”
