Muhammad Ali Week Starts in Louisville with Family Friendly Carnival
The highlight this year of the third annual Muhammad Ali Week in Louisville is a special day-long carnival on Sunday, June 2, noon-5 p.m. that will include games, music, prizes, raffles, face painting and magic – and includes all-day free admission to the Ali Center.
In addition, the event features a meet & greet with Disney’s Moana, and everyone’s favorite Pokémon, Pikachu.
Since 2016, Ali’s hometown of Louisville marks the anniversary of his passing with special events, activities, discounts, film screenings, art, music, and other family activities that encourage people to keep alive The Champ’s worldwide impact as a heavyweight champion, cultural icon and global humanitarian.
This year the week runs June 1-9 and features a new photo exhibit at the Center called “Picture Ali” (June 1); an Interfaith Memorial Service and Candlelight Vigil (June 3); Ali Appreciation Night at the Louisville Bats baseball game (June 4); a tour of the Ali Center archives (June 5).
Other events are a branding reveal at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (June 6); an oral history conversation with Ali’s daughters (June 7); Mayor’s Bike Ride and Ali film festival (June 8); and an advanced screening of the documentary “City of Ali” (June 9).
