FCPS Hands Out Seven Golden Apple Awards to Outstanding Community Partners

Seven high-performing community partners have received Golden Apple Awards from Fayette County Public Schools for their efforts working with the district and specific schools in 2018-19.

Gary Cremeans, vice chair of the Community Partners Leadership Team (CPLT); Superintendent Manny Caulk, and Ray Daniels, the school board’s vice chair, saluted the honorees Aug. 7 during the 2019 State of the Schools event at the Lexington Convention Center.

“They represent the critical connection between our community and our schools,” Cremeans said of the winners, who invested time, energy and expertise through committed programs that benefited the whole county.

The latest award recipients were Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass and Our Lady of Peace, in the community organization/nonprofit category; Central Christian Church, for faith-based groups; Pioneer Pathways of Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky’s See Blue Mathematics Clinic, for post-secondary organizations; and Annissa Franklin and Lindsay Mattingly, for individuals.

The CPLT, which serves as a link between Fayette County schools and the local community, includes representatives from more than two dozen organizations. These groups provide substantial time, funds, and other resources for students, teachers, and schools through hundreds of partnerships, mentorships, programs and initiatives.
