Kidchella: Saturday, Sept. 28

Lexington hosts many fairs and festivals, but KidChella will be the first of its kind in the Bluegrass on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Moondance Amphitheater in Beaumont Center.

KidChella is a children’s arts and music festival, co-hosted by Lexington Family Magazine and Lexington Parks & Recreation. The event isn’t just family-friendly. It’s family-focused.

Musical acts will perform throughout the day, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The line-up includes Grammy-nominated performer Zak Morgan; Appalachian folk musicians Julia Purcell & Randy Wilson; local singer/songwriter Sarah Smitha; The March Madness Marching Band; Bluegrass Youth Ballet; Elevate Academy of Dance; and Mayor, The Stereos and The Originals from Lexington Music Education’s Rock School.

The event is free for all ages thanks to our Gold Sponsor, The Living Arts & Science Center, and our Bronze Sponsor, Willis Music. Look for them on stage during the festival for special presentations.

Booths at the event will provide activities for kids of all ages. From games and art projects, to aerial yoga demos, to crafting your own ribbon wand, plenty of hands-on fun awaits at KidChella.

Bring pocket money for snacks because delicious food and sweet treats will be served up by Manje Ice and Manje Kitchen. For an up-to-date booth list, find and follow our event page on Facebook.

A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to Lexington Parks & Recreation to help fund future family programming for the community. If you are a business interested in booth space, email LexingtonFamilyEvents@gmail.com

Mark your calendar for Saturday, Sept. 28 and join us for the first KidChella festival in Lexington. We hope to see you there!
