LCT to Stage Adaptation of Classic Tale

What does it take to be a princess? That is the question Lexington Children’s Theatre will answer in January with its production of “The Princess and the Peas.”

This fun and funky retelling of a Hans Christian Andersen classic finds out what happens when “princess-ness” is put to the test. Is being a princess about bravery? Kindness? A fabulous wardrobe? Or is being a princess about being true to yourself?

The show is recommended for ages 4 & up. A special sensory-friendly performance will be held Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. Other public showtimes are Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 & 7 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m.

The 7 p.m. show on January 25 is “pay what you can.” Admission to all other showtimes is $20 for adults and $15 children.

School shows are scheduled for Tuesday-Friday, Jan. 28-31 at 10 & 11:45 a.m. Curricular connections for this show include adaptation, fairy and folk tales, girl power and overcoming fears.

“Princess and the Peas” will be performed on the LCT Main Stage at 418 W. Short St. Info: 254-4546 or www.lctonstage.org
