Kentucky American Water to Host 7th Annual WaterFest
Open House Will Include Tours, Demonstrations, Children’s Activities
Kentucky American Water will host its seventh annual, free WaterFest community open house on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at 2300 Richmond Road.
Tours of the new $15 million filtration building are part of the event.
Those wishing to tour the water treatment plant must be at least 9 years old and wear closed-toe shoes. Adults must present a valid photo ID. Large bags and backpacks will not be permitted on the tours. The plant tour is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
The event is designed to tell the story of drinking water, providing the community with an up-close, informative and fun view of how water withdrawn from a reservoir or river is transformed into drinking water.
This year’s event will include educational exhibits and demonstrations by Kentucky American Water staff, in conjunction with many community partners, covering topics such as water supply engineering, infrastructure renewal, water conservation and environmental stewardship.
